This summer I was lucky enough to intern at a marketing company, Splash Communications! It’s great to be able to apply things I learn in the classroom to real life. However, when I first started I didn’t know what to wear. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on an entire new wardrobe. My workplace is very casual so I had to keep that in mind as well and stay away from over dressing. After a few weeks on the job, I finally fell into a habit and found some go-to work appropriate outfits!
The Wrap Dress
One of my personal favorites and the most flattering on every body type is the classic wrap dress! It looks great on everyone, especially in black. I would love to own a Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dress but the closest one I could get is from Kohl’s. Very affordable and fabulous! I paired it with my favorite casual chunky heels from Target. Tip* Target is the best place for shoe sales! Any pair of shoes that you see now that are full price will most likely be under $11 in the next two months. I topped the look off with my Express sunglasses.
The Bright Blazer
A bright-colored blazer is super fun and you are guaranteed to get a lot of compliments on it! It can take any simple look to the next level and make you look business ready in no time. I wore this outfit to my first press conference! I purchased the dress from my favorite store in soho, Necessary Clothing and the blazer I picked up from Marshall’s.
When you want to be a little more casual, just throw on some pants! These comfy gray capris are from Kohl’s and my top is from Marshall’s! I normally stick to darker colors but since I have to wear business appropriate outfits for work, bright colors are easiest way to spice up the look.
As the summer goes on, I have tried to incorporate as many work appropriate pieces into my wardrobe as possible. I try to mix it up and not wear the same thing everyday. Although dressing for outside of the office is a lot more fun, I try to make dressing for work as fun as possible. Thank you for reading loves, xoxo ❤
