Makeup Tutorial: Using Only Samples

I used to be skeptical of makeup samples. In my mind, they were too small and I just wanted to get my hands on the full size. Nowadays there are so many subscription services likes Ipsy, Birchbox and Sephora Play. Many times those boxes consist of things I just toss to the side but sometimes I find little treasures that entice me to purchase the full size item. I decided to do a makeup look with all of my favorite makeup samples I have ever received that made me want to go out and purchase the product.

The Samples

Smashbox: Double Exposure Eyeshadow Palette

Full Size $52

I love this eyeshadow palette! I received the sample for free last year in NYC. Out of all of the samples, this one can be purchased as a sample for $25 by the cash register at many Ulta’s and Sephora’s. For Christmas I received a gift card so I went to Sephora and picked up the full size!

The Balm: Meet Matt(e) Trimony Eyeshadow in Matt Kumar

Full Size $42 (for the full palette)

I received this single eyeshadow in an Ipsy bag. I have been obsessed! It looks a little dingy because I use it frequently. It can be purchased in The Balm full size Meet Matt(e) Trimony palette which I hope to someday get my hands on.

Lancome: Hypose Drama Mascara

Full Size $27img_9141

I normally don’t purchase high end mascara, but this one is phenomenal. I received this one from my Sephora Play subscription. If I was willing to fork over $27 for a mascara this one would be the one.

Too Faced: Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

Full Size $30

This bronzer is great and smells like chocolate! I received this in my Sephora Play package. However, it only works for me during the colder months when I’m lighter because I’m too dark for it in the summer. Typically I use darker shades of bronzer from NYX.

Becca: Backlight Priming Filter

Full Size $30

I never use primer, I just normally put my makeup on top of my moisturizer. I received this in an Ipsy bag. When using this primer, I felt as if my skin appeared shine free in photos.

Urban Decay: All Nighter Setting Spray

Full Size $31

I received this in a Sephora Play package. I’ve purchased this before and in the past and it’s a good setting spray for long nights.

Ofra: Lipliner in Wine

Full Size $13

I filled in my lips with this lipliner. I received this in an Ipsy bag. It’s perfect for an everyday lip.

Overall I’ve been loving all of my samples from my Ipsy and Sephora Play subscriptions. They are fun to try out and inspire me to try new looks. I will continue with these subscription services as well as purchasing the full sizes of the samples I love. Thanks for reading, xoxo ❤
